What's Happening in Ms. Steiner's Class this Week...

What we're working on in class!

Technical Theatre:

What a year! It's hard to believe it is coming to an end. I have had so much fun getting to know my students. They have taught me just as much (if not more) than I've taught them! I take a lot of pride in the work that we have accomplished together. We had fun. Some of this year's highlights include production design and execution for Aladdin, Zink: The Myth The Legend The Zebra, Anybody for Tea?, Tracks, No Place For Hate Fine Arts Showcase, Project Runway, and funraising for St. Jude. We also assisted other organizations by building the set for the Gifted and Talented Ted Talk Expo, building Mrs. Marquez, the choir teacher, a platform for easier direction, and setting the stage and running tech for the Student Council Talent Show fundraiser.

Our final this semester will not include a written exam. Rather, we will complete theatre maintance to prepare the 2015-2016 school year for theatrical success! Students will be given a participation grade for their final that includes assisting with inventory, organization, cleaning, and maintenance. Students will also be asked to stand in front of the class to answer a few interview questions about their experience in technical theatre.

Theatre 1:

We are knee deep into our final unit: Monologues! Students will be required to present their monologues for a final grade. I will be grading on Memorization (25), Characterization (25), Physicality (25), and Emotional Essence (25). I have had a wonderful time developing these young actors this year. It has been such a privilege to be among such bright, creative, and funny people.
